The Linley Processor Conference features technical presentations that address the latest developments in communications, IoT, servers, and advanced automotive systems. It takes place twice a year and the next one is taking place on October 31 – November 1, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara, CA.

Imagination is attending and will be giving two presentations on day one of the conference, on Wednesday, October 31st.

The first is scheduled after lunch in Track B, session 4 which concentrates on IoT system design. The IoT presents challenges that are different from other industries and this section discusses new options for creating low-power chips for the IoT.

Richard Edgar, Director of Communications Technology, for Ensigma will be speaking on Day one of the Linley Fall Processor conference

Our first presentation is a good fit for this and will be given by Richard Edgar, Director of Communications Technology, for Ensigma, the division of Imagination that focusses on connectivity and broadcast technologies.

Traditional Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies are power hungry, making them unsuitable for the IoT where low power and extended battery life are required. In his talk, Richard will unveil how Ensigma is tackling this issue by enabling low-power location devices designs for the IoT.

Following the break and over in Track A is the Image and Vision Processor session. Here Kristof Beets, Senior Director of Product Management & Technology Marketing for PowerVR Graphics will be speaking.

Once again, the theme will be optimising power consumption and in his talk, Kristof will unveil Imagination’s groundbreaking technology that will enable SoC designers to reduce both power consumption and memory footprint. It’s a technology that will deliver tangible performance, power and cost benefits to SoC designers.

It promises to be fascinating stuff from both speakers and the content will highlight how Imagination continues to operate at the forefront of the market for embedded devices for mobile, automotive and the IoT.

After both sessions, there will be a Q&A and a panel discussion

On-line registration for the event is now closed but on-site registration opens at the Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara at 8:00 AM on October 31 and November 1 and will remain open all day.

Back in the high-performance game

My first encounter with the PowerVR GPU was helping the then VideoLogic launch boards for Matrox in Europe. Not long after I joined the company, working on the rebrand to Imagination Technologies and promoting both our own VideoLogic-branded boards and those of our partners using ST’s Kyro processors. There were tens of board partners but only for one brief moment did we have two partners in the desktop space: NEC and ST.
