Cambridge, one of the most famous cities in England, is well known for many things, such as its ancient university, its classical architecture, punting on its rivers and the myriad bicycles that are the preferred method of transport for its famous students. The ISO 26262 Digital Conference is a not-for-profit functional safety event organised by safety practitioners heavily involved with ISO 26262 and is designed to provide opportunities for those in the industry to network, share knowledge and engage in discussions. For obvious reasons, the event this year is taking place entirely online and will run between 24th – 25th March 2021.
We are saddened to report the passing of Dr Mike Carey, founder of Ensigma, which innovated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology and was owned by Imagination between 2000 and and late 2020. Mike was a brilliant and generous leader and a pleasure to know and work with. Mike was from Chepstow in Wales and Ensigma continued to have offices in the town throughout its history.
Today, we are proud to introduce IMG A-Series. It’s not only a range of new cores, but it introduces a new GPU architecture too. The headline figure? A-Series is 2.5x faster (or 150%) for the same area and same power compared to our currently shipping PowerVR GPUs.
After a short hiatus, we are proud to announce that the Imagination University Programme is back. Following our transition to new ownership, the refreshed Imagination University Programme (IUP) course looks to harness the core strength of the company, namely low-power GPUs for efficient embedded graphics processing (ranging from the entry-level for TV GUIs up to high-performance gaming) and neural network accelerators for edge-based artificial intelligence.
