Last year I was privileged to join Imagination as its chief executive officer and was delighted to join a company that has not only a distinguished history, but also incredible potential. With over 25 years of experience in designing and licensing market-leading IP processor solutions, we are today found in over 30% of the world’s mobile phones and, in total, over 11bn devices globally. Imagination is widely acknowledged as a company that creates innovative, high-quality technologies that solve complex problems for its customers. Across compute, graphics, and AI, it is razor-focused on delivering IP that provides high-performance and low power consumption in the smallest silicon area, thus empowering its partners to succeed, be it in mobile, consumer, automotive or other markets.
Imagination pioneered hardware-based ray tracing technology several years ago with a focus on an ideal blend of performance, quality power efficiency and the IP is available for licensing. Its efforts have been recognised by the 5G Cloud Gaming Industry Alliance (5GCGA), a new cross-industry collective that aims to develop the 5G cloud game industry worldwide.
It is with great sadness that we heard the news that Geoff Shingles, an important part of this company for many years, has died. Geoff was a highly experienced chairman and his advice to us was always to be bold, to innovate, and to be unafraid to work with even the biggest companies in the world.
Earlier this month Imagination Technologies picked up two awards for its recently launch IMG Series 4 neural network accelerator (NNA). Our NNA is no stranger to awards, with the design team behind the Series2 NX and the NNA itself picking up gongs for its groundbreaking performance. The Series 4 takes things to new levels, with its scalable architecture offering 500 TOPS of performance, and even beyond.
Choosing how to work from home is different for everyone. At Imagination, we’re working differently, but our culture has stayed the same. Find out how.
It is a time of uncertainty, volatility, complexity and ambiguity – all the things that we humans struggle with (so it is OK to feel you are struggling or overwhelmed). Sadly, the pandemic will have a deep impact, and many lives will be affected in some way – but there is light at the end of the tunnel, as decisive action in East Asia has shown.
